How to translate a PDF and keep the layout
To translate a PDF, open it in Klevo and type “translate the document into Spanish” (or any language). The AI translates the text in place and gives you a new PDF with the same headings, tables and structure, instead of a block of plain text. It works on iPhone, iPad, Android and in the browser at app.klevo.info.
Step by step
- Open the PDF in Klevo. In the app or at app.klevo.info, choose Edit a PDF and pick the file.
- Type the instruction. For example “translate the document to Arabic” or “translate this letter into formal German”.
- Review the result. Check names, numbers and terms. Ask for fixes in plain words: “keep the product names in English”.
- Download or share. Download the translated PDF, share a link, or send it for signature.
Good to know
- Best for text documents: letters, contracts, invoices, resumes, forms and reports of a few pages.
- Right-to-left languages: Arabic is supported, with the layout flipped right to left.
- Keep a copy: the original stays in your library; the translation is a new version you can undo.
- Scanned PDFs: Klevo needs real text in the PDF; it does not run OCR on photos of pages.
Prompts to try
- “Translate into Spanish, keep the company names and amounts unchanged.”
- “Translate into French and use the formal ‘vous’.”
- “Translate only the second page into Portuguese.”
- “Translate to English, then shorten it to one page.”
Legal, medical and official documents: AI translation is a fast first draft. Where accuracy matters, have a qualified translator check it; some authorities require a certified translation.
Frequently asked questions
Can I translate a PDF for free?
Klevo is free to download and includes free AI edits every day. Pro removes the daily limit: in the phone app through the App Store or Google Play, or on the web for $7.99 a month or $29.99 a year.
Does the translated PDF keep the formatting?
Klevo regenerates the document with the translated text and keeps its structure, such as headings, lists and tables. Review it before sharing, and ask for adjustments if anything moved.
Which languages are supported?
Most widely used languages, including Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Hindi. Just name the language in your instruction.
Can it translate a scanned PDF?
Not yet. Klevo works with PDFs that contain real text. A scanned page is an image, which needs OCR first.
