How to sign a PDF online

To sign a PDF online, open it in Klevo at app.klevo.info, draw your signature and say where it goes. To get someone else’s signature, choose Request signatures and send the link: each signer opens it in any browser, with no app or account, and signs. Klevo adds a signature certificate page recording every signer’s name, the time, IP address and device, and the signed copy comes back to your library.

Step by step

  1. Open the PDF in Klevo. Go to app.klevo.info and upload the PDF, or open one you already have.
  2. Add your own signature. Draw it, then say where it goes, for example “next to Tenant signature”. Klevo places it and attaches a certificate with your details.
  3. Request signatures from others. In Share, choose Request signatures, set how many people need to sign, and copy the link. Send it by email, WhatsApp or any message.
  4. They sign in the browser. Each signer enters their name, draws or types a signature and agrees to sign electronically, or declines with a reason.
  5. Get the signed copy. The signed PDF appears in your library with one certificate listing every signer. You can see who has opened, signed or declined.

What the signature certificate records

  • Each signer’s name and, if given, email
  • The date and time of signing (server time, UTC)
  • IP address and device
  • A signature ID, and a SHA-256 fingerprint of the exact document that was sent for signature

The document is frozen when you send it, so later edits can’t change what people sign. Your original pages stay as they were, and the certificate is added at the end.

Good to know

  • Signers’ signatures appear on the certificate page; Klevo doesn’t yet place signature fields on specific spots of a page.
  • Signers don’t need the Klevo app or an account. They need the link and a browser.
  • Password-protected PDFs can’t be sent for signature. Remove the password first.

Frequently asked questions

Can I sign a PDF online for free?

Yes. Drawing your signature and sending a request are available in Klevo, and signers never pay or create an account.

Do the people signing need an account?

No. They open your link in any browser on a phone or computer and sign there.

Is an electronic signature legally binding?

Electronic signatures are recognised in many countries, including under the US ESIGN Act and the EU eIDAS regulation, but rules vary by document type and country. Check what applies to your document.

Can several people sign the same PDF?

Yes. Set the number of signers when you send the request. Every signature is added to the same signed copy.

What if someone refuses to sign?

A signer can decline and give a reason. The request closes and you are notified.
